Alright, we are all athletes here. Pre-season has come to an end and prime in-season time is upon us. Our bodies hurt from training, brains are fried from learning new plays, emotionally exhausted from balancing life, but determined to push through being “banged up”.
This is every basketball players time to shine! We worked so hard to prepare for the season to start, why wouldn’t we be fired up that practices have reduced and playing actual scrimmages/games have started, get some conference games in, travel for that Thanksgiving and Christmas tournament, etc.? Oh right, that body, mind, and emotions have already taken a tool. How do we get past this?
Yourself, your teammates, your opponents, and every basketball player out there is pushing through some type of pain, coming back from an injury, or nursing a minor injury that they just received. No one is 100% good to go. Athletes are used to doing this, can feel sore all day, knees hurt, feel out of it, etc., but do they ever skip practice? I didn’t think so. You aren’t the only one, you aren’t behind anyone else, you aren’t at a disadvantage.
Don’t believe me? Make a list of some athletes that are super successful and still playing even though they have been either physically, mentally, or emotionally in pain or hurt. If they can overcome this, so can you!
