One of the best ways to become an aggressive athlete is to watch other athletes that are aggressive. Why would this be important? You are probably thinking that you should be out there doing it yourself compared to just watching someone else play basketball. Which yes, you need to mentally prepare yourself and physically go out and do the movements, but first you must educate yourself on what you want to do.

Knowing who your aggressive athlete role models are gives yourself a base on how your behaviors, attitude, and efforts should look like. The more you understand their sports personality, the easier it is going to be for you get to their level and emulate during competition time.

Steps on perfectly nailing your Alter Ego

  1. The first step you will need to do too do this is figure out who and how many aggressive athlete role models you want to have. You can have a role model that is stellar defense, another might be super aggressive during hustle plays, one can be a professional athlete, or a college athlete, etc. Pick a couple to get a good variety.
  2. Next, watch these athletes at least once a week. You can go to their game, find highlights on YouTube, watch a game on TV, etc. Doing this at least once a day will give you some key points to focus on before practice that day. If you aren’t in season, practice this aggressive behavior during your workouts, lifting, training, etc.
  3. Thirdly, make a list of their behaviors that you would like to pick up. If it works for them, it could work for you. Focus on details. Some examples: Not afraid to take it into the basket; getting blocks/steals; hustle for EVER loose ball; positive body language; run back on defense or offense; run on and off the bench; have a good time playing; uses anger to fight harder; etc.
  4. Lastly, GO OUT AND PRACTICE THIS BEHAVIOR!!!
