One of my favorite parts of the Gymnast Mindset program is the part where we redefine success and failure. It’s something that we take a much deeper dive into when we’re working with teams or individual gymnasts because it is an important concept, and it is one that needs to be personalized on a case by case basis. But… here is a quick overview on the topic:
Oftentimes we mix up success and goals, but they are not the same thing. Our definition of success should be something that we have control over, not just the outcome. Because we typically don’t have complete control over the outcome itself.
We need to look at success through a different lens and make sure that our gymnasts are performing based on this new success definition rather than something that always seems just out of reach.
